There are cases when a stray dog gets caught in a bear trap. If not rescued immediately, dogs caught in such traps will likely die from starvation. Fortunately, most dog rescuers are quick to take action whenever they are made aware of such an incident.
Birdie is a small dog that was unfortunate enough to get caught in a bear trap. Thankfully, she was rescued and given medical care. However, her leg was severely injured and had to be amputated.
Birdie was later fostered by a South Korean woman living in Seoul. Then after a few months, she was adopted by two individuals named Megan and Collin. Eventually, the small dog was taken all the way to Brooklyn, New York, several days after her adoption was finalized.
During the first few days at her new home, many things would scare Birdie. She often got spooked by sudden movements within her vicinity. Fortunately, her owners were very patient and understanding toward her. They understood that she behaved that way because of past trauma.
After a few weeks in Brooklyn, Birdie became more comfortable around her owners. She started wagging her tail in their presence, and she always wanted to be in the same room with them. Seeing those things happen made the owners ecstatic.
Megan and Collin were happy to see Birdie become more confident. Aside from confidence, the little dog also became eager to explore the world around her. Because of that, she discovered a love for chasing squirrels, which her owners found endearing and entertaining.
Birdie’s owners were pleasantly surprised by how fast she adapted to her new life. They expected her adjustment period to be longer, so they were over the moon seeing Birdie’s consistent improvements. After all, the small dog no longer had any reason to be fearful or anxious with Megan and Collin by her side.
