Sometimes, dogs return the favor in many surprising ways. They might even save your life! This is what a man named Brian Meyers has experienced after taking in a dog named Sadie.
Brian adopted Sadie, a German Shepherd, from a shelter named Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge after her previous family surrendered her. Sadie was eager to return the favor, and that was after she saved Brian’s life when he suffered a stroke.
Sadie was a savior
When Brian collapsed during a stroke, Sadie immediately licked his face, a clear attempt to wake him up. She then dragged Brian across the room, which ultimately allowed him to take his smartphone and call for help. Brian was then taken to a local hospital and then to the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation.
Brian said he didn’t know how Sadie managed to do it. But he was thankful that the dog was able to pull him the way she did. He added that if Sadie hadn’t come, he might as well have experienced something much worse.
Brian and Sadie’s reunion
Eventually, Brian was released from the rehab center. He found Sadie waiting for him in the parking lot.
The reunion between the two had been filmed on camera. In the video, Brian could be seen trying to hold back his tears as the dog happily greeted him.
Brian hoped that his story with Sadie had inspired others to adopt their next dog. He added that there are many other dogs out there that were waiting to be someone’s hero.
Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge also shared its own video of the duo’s reunion. The shelter also decided to raise money for Sadie. The said funds would help cover the dog’s needs in the future since Brian had to go on disability, and he was anxious about the costs that would come with caring for the loyal dog.
