There are moments in life when someone beats the odds, and we call it a miracle. Nekku the corgi is one such miracle. She was born with a genetic congenital disability that resulted in an unusual physical appearance – one eye, two noses, and two fused vertebrae. As a result, the vet suggested putting her down.
However, Jarmo Korhonen from Finland came across Nekku and decided to adopt her despite her unique condition. He already had two other corgis at home, Niisku-Neiti and Karkki. Nekku had a difficult start to her life, being the offspring of two successful show dogs. Her breeder had planned her genealogy and was expecting a healthy pup, but fate had other plans.
Vets predicted that Nekku would face many challenges growing up, and her breeder thought that no one would want to adopt her because of her uniqueness. But Jarmo changed everything. He gave Nekku a new life and a new home.
Nekku is eight years old, a happy and playful dog living in the countryside. Her genetic defects make it difficult for her to understand the 3D perspective, causing her to bump into things or other dogs. To help her live as freely as possible, Jarmo moved her to her mother’s home in the countryside, where she could play with her corgi buddies.
Despite her challenges, Nekku is thriving. She loves to play, goof around, and even sneaks gooseberries occasionally. She has exceeded everyone’s expectations and shown true resilience. When others thought she couldn’t make it, Nekku proved them wrong.
