Siberia is one of the most surely inhospitable places on earth. Here, the weather can definitely kill humans and animals alike, especially during the winter season where temperatures plummet well below the freezing levels. In some places in Siberia, there are days when people aren’t allowed to go out because of extreme weather that can cause hypothermia within minutes of exposure.
In the Chita Region in Siberia, a dog was spotted alone on a frozen lake. It seemed the dog was trying to go across the lake when it fell in a hole on the ice. The dog’s fur got wet and froze on the ice, which caused the dog to get stuck. It was already a death sentence for the dog if it weren’t spotted.
Nobody really knew why the dog would go on such a perilous journey. People assumed that the dog wanted to be closer to the heat that came from the thermal power plant which was situated just across the frozen lake. The immobilized dog was surely going to die if no help arrived.
After the huge dog was spotted, local firefighters were called to help. The firefighters didn’t waste any time and gathered their tools to free the dog from the ice. The rescue team arrived using a blue hovercraft. One of the rescuers approached the dog and patted the dog on its head to reassure the dog that everything is going to be okay.
The rescuer then pulled out a tool and probed the ice with it. The man was careful not to hurt the dog. Eventually, the rescuer was able to free the dog from the ice and was taken ashore in the hovercraft. The rescuers warmed up the dog with towels and also gave the dog some food.
The dog sustained no serious injuries and was soon set free after a while. The amazing rescue was filmed by the rescuers and shared on the internet for people to see. Here’s the video showing the brave rescuers saving the life of the dog trapped in the ice and exposed to the cold weather in Siberia.
