Briana Martin, a resident of Moline, Illinois, was stunned when she discovered her dog was missing. Half an hour earlier, she let her Husky, Feather, out in their backyard so she could play and use the toilet. The pooch had never attempted to escape, so she was confident leaving her alone in the fenced yard. Finding her gone only led to one conclusion – someone stole their pet.
The Martin family was upset. Feather was a beloved part of their family, and they got worried that something terrible might happen to her. They relentlessly search for their dog for the next six months, using any means necessary. But they could not find any clues or leads.
They were about to lose all hope of finding her until Briana received a message from a complete stranger.
Estranged
The message was sent via Facebook, and it came from the account of a local auto mechanic shop. It said that he knew where Feather was as his own parents had stolen her. Briana couldn’t believe what she had read.
At first, she thought that the sender was saying he had stolen her pet. But after processing for a few minutes, she finally understood. The owner then asked the name of his parents and where they lived.
The young man told them that he was estranged from his family, but he knew they stole Feather. They lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 88 miles away, and the Husky was there too.
Reunited
Briana forwarded the information to the East Moline Police Department, who then sent officers to verify it. Sure enough, Feather was found on the property. In a few hours, the dog was reunited with her family.
The family that stole the Husky is now facing charges. Briana hopes they will be punished to the full extent of the law for causing them a lot of pain.
