Residents of Dekalb County, Georgia are on the lookout for a three-year-old Yorkie after he got stolen from the shelter facility of a local nonprofit organization. The tiny pooch, which weighed only five pounds, has been in a kennel for a week. But because of his amiable character and breed, Brad quickly attracted interest, and numerous inquiries were made about his adoption.
A senior woman named Kay Kenimar was one of them. She is a local resident who had just lost her 14-year-old Maltese. The retiree hoped that Brad would help ease some of the emotional pain she was experiencing. Luckily, she was chosen to adopt the adorable pooch.
Stolen pup
Kay was ecstatic that she would get to take Brad home. She went to the shelter and started filling out the papers. She even paid for the adoption fees already. When everything was set, a shelter worker went to Brad’s kennel to get the pup, and she was shocked to discover that the pup was gone.
The shelter administration was quickly informed, and so was Kay. The elderly lady was heartbroken. She had certainly fallen in love with the small pooch.
The rescue group quickly notified the cops, and they sent a team of investigators to the kennel. After reviewing the security footage, they had found a possible suspect. The perpetrator went out the backdoor after stealing Brad and the security camera caught the act.
A plea to the public
The shelter staff made a post on their page and featured the Yorkie’s photo and story. They asked the public to be on the lookout and inform them if they ever saw Brad. They also said the dog has a microchip and was already flagged as stolen.
Public interest in the case grew after a local media outlet featured the case in their news program. Hopefully, Brad will be found and returned to the shelter. Kay is already looking forward to the day that they will be together.
