When a dog goes missing, the owner will undeniably get upset, anxious, and sad all at the same time. That’s understandable, knowing that dogs are not just pets – they’re family.
A German Shepherd mix named Bear went missing for six months. While everything seemed hopeless, a miracle ultimately happened.
The day Bear went missing
Last year, a man named Harrison Sibley left his home in Louisiana to stay with his friend in Sevier County, Tennessee. He took his 10-year-old dog with him.
While Harrison was out hiking, his friends thought that it was okay to let Bear outside for a while. That was when the dog took off and eventually went missing.
Over the next three months, Harrison returned to Tennessee four times to look for his beloved pet. At the same time, a Facebook group was created to spread the word about Bear’s disappearance and find leads.
Earlier this year, the German Shepherd mix started appearing on security camera footage around Sevier County. Once it was confirmed that it was actually Bear, a man named Jimi Holscher offered his help.
Jimi used a drone to look for the missing pooch. He said he had never used his drone to find a dog, but hearing that Bear had only three legs touched his heart.
Bear is home now!
Jimi and Harrison devised a plan during one of Harrison’s trips to Tennessee. In their search, Jimi first spotted the three-legged dog at about 3 a.m. He managed to follow him for about 25 minutes before he lost sight of him.
Eventually, it was found out that a couple trapped Bear, but he still managed to escape. But he was spotted again within a four-mile radius. At this point, the search was temporarily called off.
Jimi and Harrison went back to Tennessee once again. This time, they got closer to Bear. However, the dog just ran away. It was clear that he was nervous.
Over the next couple days, Bear came back to the area where he was initially found. He was then trapped, thus ending Harrison’s search.
Harrison couldn’t be happier. He joked that Bear earned a steak dinner after everything that happened.
