Jen and Bruce Turner were on vacation in Macedonia when they met Chachi, a stray dog who unexpectedly became a part of their family. The couple first saw the dog outside the only restaurant in the town where they stayed. They noticed that the dog limped, and he looked sick. To their surprise, it followed them to their yard, where they gave it something to eat and let it stay there.
The following morning, Jen excitedly looked for the puppy and fed it. Since that day, they kept on feeding and loving him. After a few more days, they contacted a veterinarian who checked Chachi, and from whom they learned that he had a spinal cord injury. The vet gave him shots, put a microchip on him, and gave him antibiotics as he had a lung infection.
At that moment, the couple knew that Chachi had already captured their hearts. They let him move into their garage and pampered him with treats and so much love. They also started planning his trip home with them to Toronto, as they realized that they could not leave him behind.
They got him a collar and a crate for his travel. However, three days before their trip, the vet came back to do another check-up, and he informed them that Chachi was not well enough to fly. The couple needed to leave, but thankfully, Jen’s parents, who were with them at that time, extended their stay for ten more days.
A couple of days before Jen’s parents had to leave, Chachi got the clearance to travel. He traveled alone for over 4000 miles, in two connecting flights, for around 18 hours. The couple could not hide their excitement when Chachi finally arrived in Toronto. Chachi was happy too.
Since then, Chachi has enjoyed the life that any dog would want. He has loving fur parents who adore him and take him to different places. As a bonus, he also found a new furry friend with whom he could play. His walks or runs are still crooked, though, because of his spinal cord injury, but he is not in pain, and he could run as fast as he wants.
