Lilibeth is a small white dog rescued as a stray in Arizona. She was brought to a local shelter but was later moved to a foster home. Thanks to a nonprofit charity organization called Friends for Life Animal Rescue, the rescue pup was removed from the cramped shelter and found an excellent temporary mom with a devoted foster volunteer named Carly Fife.
The kindhearted lady knew full well how traumatic life could be in a shelter, especially with a skittish and untrusting pooch like Lilibeth. For several months, she did everything she could to make the little dog learn how to trust humans. Eventually, she transformed into a happy pooch and shed her fears away.
A forever family
The pup’s new transformation landed her a new family, which would be permanent this time. Sadly though, a day before her new owners came to pick her up, Lilibeth managed to get loose and ran away.
According to Carly, although she was happy to see Lilibeth get adopted, she had grown a strong bond with the pup and was devastated when she disappeared. The worried foster mom immediately looked for her, asking several other volunteers to search for the missing dog. They even gave out flyers and put up missing posters.
After several weeks, it seemed to them that the pup would never be found. With a broken heart, Carly assumed she was taken away by someone, or worse, dead.
Thin and matted
15 months after Lilibeth ran away, a nonprofit volunteer-based rescue group named Humane Animal Rescue and Trapping Team was looking for another missing dog when they happened to find a small dirty dog. She was emaciated and severely matted.
They took the stray back to their facility and cleaned her up. The shelter volunteers scanned her for a microchip, and this led them to Carly. The foster mom couldn’t believe that Lilibeth survived being alone. She quickly went to pick her up.
Because she disappeared, Lilibeth’s would-be family had already adopted another dog. They couldn’t take her anymore. She will stay with Carly again until they can find another family willing to make her their pet.
