George Wood is a California native who moved to Margate City in Florida when he married his wife, Kimberly. The happy couple lives with their two daughters and a rescue dog named Freckles. The family adored the three-year-old dog, who is usually playful and sweet. She is also very obedient.
But one early morning, despite being repeatedly told to stop barking, Freckles wouldn’t listen to his dad. The white husky and lab mix just stood by their front door, barking at something outside. It was 3:30 am, and George was still in bed. Kimberly, an airline pilot, was getting ready to go to work.
George got up and went to see why their pet was agitated. When he looked out, he was shocked to see a seven-and-a-half-foot alligator on the paved area of their front door.
What lurks in the dark
George had never heard of an alligator roaming in their community. But somehow, the large reptile found its way to their property, and freckles saw the intruder. The dog’s barking attracted the alligator, and it stood outside, hissing and thrashing around.
The homeowner had never dealt with such a creature and didn’t know what to do. He told his wife to stay inside while they called for help. He then phoned the security guards of their gated community. They, in turn, called the authorities.
Daisy
The cops sent over an alligator rescue team authorized by the county to catch the intruding creature. Once the reptile’s mouth shut with tape, they loaded her in their truck and brought the animal to Holiday Park. She will stay in the sanctuary along with other gators. They also named her Daisy.
According to George, his wife could have been attacked by the alligator, who she would probably not notice because it was still dark outside then. Freckles most likely saved her life.
