We could never underestimate the power of love. It can transform the most negative things into positive aspects of life. For love to be effective, you have to be patient and brave to tackle uncertainties. You have to take that leap of faith, fully believing that what you are going to do is going to work.
This is apparently what Niko Huberman did to create a change in one very angry dog. As a foster mom to several stray dogs, Niko meets many different dog characters. Most of them come from a difficult past and have not experienced being a pet before. But with a dog named Heather, she may have met her match.

When Niko first met Heather, she was warned by shelter staff and volunteers that the dog tends to bite when she feels threatened. Anyone that comes close to her is met with an aggressive stand and a ready mouth. Not many fosters agreed to take her in, and they were hoping that Niko would.
Not one to say no to a dog that needs her help, Niko accepted, despite having some doubts. She wasn’t entirely sure that her knowledge and experience with strays would help get Heather to warm up to her.
Once they were home, Heather refused to come out of her crate. She just stayed in the far end, not moving an inch. Niko knew that if she stuck her hand in, it would certainly be bitten. So she took a treat and used it to pet the dog’s fur. Fortunately, it worked. Heather allowed her foster mom to pet her with the treat, although she still seemed afraid.
Eventually, Niko could pet her with her own hands then take her out of the crate. She took her out for a walk, and it seemed that her character changed so much. When they got home, Heather even snuggled up to her when they sat on the floor.
From then on, everything just got better. Heather felt more comfortable around Niko and in other humans. They would go out for different activities like swimming. She didn’t mind having a lot of people around her anymore.
And after a couple of months, Heather was in a condition where she could be adopted. She found a new happy home living with seniors who love her so much.
