When we took in doggos under our wing thousands of years ago, we never knew that they could do so much for us. We only wanted them to help us hunt and guard our belongings, but they did so much more. The best thing about it is that they have learned to like us so much, that they would help any human even strangers.
Perhaps it’s just how dogs are, and we are just really lucky that we benefit a lot from them. Many of them aren’t even trained to protect people just like this pooch from Terre Haute, Indiana, named Zoey. This courageous canine is an Australian shepherd and Blue Heeler mix belonging to Kyler Knotts.
As Kyler explained, Zoey the unofficial guard dog for their family business, Carlisle Valley Irrigation, and his nearby farm fields. Luckily, this pooch has never been called into action, but one fateful evening, duty called. However, it didn’t involve the family business nor his dad’s farm fields.
Zoey was called to protect a stranger she never met before. Layla Knotts, unrelated to Kyler, crashed her vehicle near Kyler’s property, and the pooch heard it. She ran towards the wreck and found Layla, who had serious injuries all over her body.
Zoey couldn’t get help for her, but the pooch knew Layla was hurt. So the pupper then laid next to the woman for six hours, until help arrived. Layla’s mom, Christy Knotts, said that there are plenty of predators roaming around the area, and Zoey’s presence would’ve deterred any curious critters.
It was also freezing that night, and Zoey’s body heat kept Layla warm. After Layla was released from the hospital, she visited her furry hero who basically helped her survive the ordeal. Let’s just say Zoey had earned a new life-long friend in Layla.
