A rambunctious Chihuahua-beagle mix from Georgia detests being restrained by its leash every time it goes for a walk, just like all other dogs. So when his leash broke recently during one of his daily walks, his fur parent had to devise a funny hack to prevent him from running amok in the streets.
Two years ago, Charlie, a Chihuahua-beagle mix from Cumming, Georgia, detested his leash greatly. He never liked being tethered and denied the independence he really wanted to experience. In fact, according to his pet parent Kendra Rubin, Charlie would persistently chew on the leash and beg her to remove it.
However, because the dog enjoyed neighborhood walks so much, he always tolerated the leash. Kendra never allowed Charlie to run free on their walks since she was aware of the awful consequences that could ensue if she did. The fur parent knew it was quite probable that the dog would run into the street and be struck by a speeding vehicle.
In order to avoid such mishaps, Charlie’s mother always used a leash whenever they were out and about. During one of their recent outings, however, an unpleasant thing happened: the leash on the dog snapped.
Fortunately, Charlie was too preoccupied admiring the view to hear the snap, allowing Kendra to devise a strategy to keep the dog at bay. She chose to act as though everything was normal and that surely was an intelligent thing to do. She continued to walk with her hand in the air, as though she were holding an unseen leash.
Fortunately, Charlie was unable to tell the difference and maintained his customary distance from Kendra. Once the pair finally reached their residence 15 minutes later, Kendra ditched her act and let the dog run free.
Hopefully, their next stroll would be less exciting.
