There are wrong traditions that are still practiced because nobody challenges them. Even though some say that culture should be respected, if it undermines the rights of other sectors, this practice must be stopped.
The consumption of dog meat is a South Korean tradition. To animal rights groups, however, this practice is wrong and must be stopped.
Humane Society International is among the most passionate critics of this practice. Since the organization’s beginnings, HSI volunteers have rescued canines from many South Korean meat farms. The same volunteers demand the closure of these slaughterhouses because they violate the right to life of dogs. Thankfully, a number of slaughterhouses have already been ordered to close.
Whenever volunteers rescue canines, HSI provides temporary refuge for them in South Korea. The volunteers then file the necessary paperwork for the dog to be sent to locations where they would be adopted by loving families.
HSI even transports these dogs to other nations, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. In these countries, rescued dogs are made available for adoption.
The most recent rescue mission conducted by HSI was in the province of Gyeonggi-do. Volunteers were able to save approximately 200 pets. Six of these 200 dogs have been adopted by All Dogs Matter. The United Kingdom-based organization has always been there to help the HSI in achieving its goals.
The six fortunate dogs were later on named Millie, Dermot, Sandie, Luna, Olive, and Nari. According to All Canines Matter, they will transport the dogs to London as soon as they receive permission to do so. When the canines reach the United Kingdom, the volunteers will transport them to their animal shelter to await adoption.
According to the employees at All Dogs Matter, it is not difficult to find potential adopters in London, as a large number of Brits are dog enthusiasts.
