RRSA India, a rescue and rehabilitation center, received a call about a homeless dog that needed urgent help. Quickly, volunteer workers drove to the neighborhood where the pup lived. They were happy that they found the stray dog right away but they were horrified when they realized the severity of its injury.
The dog, named Doggo, later on, had a deep gaping wound on top of his nose. His face was swollen and he certainly was in pain. And without medical care, maggots had started to eat the rotting flesh on his face.
They had absolutely no time to waste so the rescuers went to work right away. They tried to lure Doggo with food but he knew not to fall prey to it. He ran away with a limp and that’s when they realized he also had a bad foot.
Considering the austerity of the dog’s condition, the rescuers agreed they needed to get him to the rescue center right away. They used a net to capture him and then loaded him into their ambulance. And once they made it to their hospital, they began his treatment at once.
Doggo failed to understand that the rescuers meant no harm so he fought back and refused to surrender. Even when he was at the rescue center already, he tried to escape. The unfamiliar environment caused him to feel terror and the pain that he felt made it even worse.
The shelter staffers mildly sedated the dog to help him relax. Afterward, they started to remove all the maggots and then dressed his wound. They also addressed his bad foot and they were glad to know that it wasn’t as bad as it looked.
For the next few weeks, Doggo needed to have his wound cleaned and his bandages changed. He endured more pain in order to heal completely, but it was all worth it in the end. It did not just address his health issue, it also gave him back his happiness and his handsome face.
Doggo had a great time with his rescue friends and he was appreciative of everything they did for him. And once he fully recovered, he bid his goodbye and went back home.
