Sammy Aloubehi is the owner and manager of a small corner convenience store in Philadelphia. He usually works with a female employee and his dog named Bullet.
An unfortunate incident in the store could have cost him and his employee’s life. But thanks to the brave actions of his pet, both of them are still alive today.
Armed burglars
The story happened one Tuesday morning. As usual, Sammy, his clerk, and Bullet were minding the store. The manager was standing behind the counter while his employee was resting on a couch nearby. Then out of the blue, two men rushed to them, both brandishing guns. One of them had a pistol, while the other was carrying a submachine gun.
One of the robbers quickly made his way to the clerk and pointed a gun on her head. The other perpetrator was standing just behind his partner. They tell Sammy and his employee not to move. Bullet saw what was happening and jumped all over the suspect near the couch. This distracted the man.
The clerk saw an opportunity and grabbed her own loaded pistol, and started at the suspect nearest to her. The armed man was startled and tried to find cover. He managed to return fire while doing so. The second suspect did the same. After returning a couple of shots, both men fled the store.
Four gunshot wounds
Sammy wasn’t injured during the altercation, but the clerk got shot four times. Fortunately, none of them were critical. The store manager called 911, and she was rushed to the hospital. Doctors treated her right away, and she is doing fine.
The store owner credits his dog for saving their lives. The armed robbers could have killed them that day if his employee didn’t get the chance to scare them off.
The cops are now using the footage from the store’s security cameras in their investigation. They haven’t identified the suspects yet, but they have recovered one of their guns.
