Having been rescued by a kind Samaritan who was eager to give her the home she deserves, a Virginian dog named Smoke was on the verge of a new beginning. Brad Chambers of Portsmouth, Virginia saved the pit bull’s life by rescuing her after her former owner stabbed her that she was almost at death’s door.
According to reports, the former police officer discovered Smoke as she ran beneath his truck during a heavy traffic jam. She was bleeding severely from many stab wounds and appeared to be on her deathbed.
The benevolent stranger exited his truck and immediately retrieved his first aid equipment to assist the injured animal. Chambers stated in an interview that the stab wound entered so deeply into her neck that it injured her trachea. Additionally, he stated that air was already leaking from her trachea into her lungs and the chest cavity surrounding her heart.
After administering first aid with his trauma kit, he promptly transported her to the closest animal hospital in Suffolk. Eventually, Smoke underwent surgery at the College of Veterinary Medicine of North Carolina State University. Fortunately, the doggo recovered from her injuries.
Chambers stated that Smoke is one of the most affectionate dogs he has ever encountered. With the assistance of a care-focused campaign, he was able to pay the dog’s medical bills, that was worth $15,000.
The former officer is pleased to report that the dog has totally recovered from all her procedures and regained her energy.
Smoke’s former owner relinquished his rights to the devoted dog.
Chamber’s generosity does not end there. He immediately expressed his willingness to adopt Smoke and give her a second chance at life.
Smoke is now pursuing her goal of becoming a registered therapy dog.
Chambers observed that Smoke is a dog who requires an environment where those around her can benefit from her loving character. He also stated that he is a certified dog lover, so having Smoke around would allow him to spend much time with her.
