A nonprofit animal rescue organization called Hope For Paws received a text from concerned locals about a dog needing immediate assistance. The Good Samaritans also offered to help them rescue the dog. The team agreed, so they went to the venue with hopes of getting the dog out of that place.
The place of rescue was in a carport, and the dog was found behind a parked car. When the dog saw the rescuers, he was instantly alarmed, so he shied away. The volunteers quickly guarded the place with a fence so he had nowhere to go. Although he kept avoiding them, they got to tell from his body movements that he wanted to get rescued.
They pitied the dog because his being doubtful was understandable. Like all the dogs they rescued in the past, he developed uneasiness with people because not everyone had been good to him. Founder Eldad Hagar’s goal was to make him feel that his intention was pure. He reassured the dog that everything would be alright through the Lucky Leash he put around his neck.
The Lucky Leash worked its magic because the dog jumped straight into the rescuers’ vehicle. There, the dog got scanned for a microchip but did not have any. After knowing nobody owned him, Hagar posted the dog’s photo on Instagram to ask people for suggestions about what to name him. Many loved the idea of calling him Puddles.
The rescuers brought Puddles to the shelter, which served as his relaxation area while they searched for owners. After a few hours, they got a text informing them that they had been in touch with the dog’s owners. They also learned that his real name was Charlie.
When they sent Charlie to his owners, his reaction was priceless. He got overwhelmingly excited that he almost had a heart attack upon seeing them. The owners were thankful because they were given a second chance with him. They said the experience taught them the importance of making their dog wear a collar tag and implanting a microchip.
