McKenzie Smith, a volunteer at Saving Hope Rescue in Fort Worth, Texas, still couldn’t believe what happened last weekend. A homeless Yorkie just got reunited with his owners after his disappearance fourteen years ago!
A few weeks ago, the Fort Worth Animal Care and Control rescued a senior Yorkie who was clearly in distress. It was evident that the pup had gone through a lot, so he was taken to the Saving Hope Rescue so the staff can check on him.
They groomed him and gave him a good bath. They also checked for a microchip, and when they found one, they immediately called the owners to let them know that they found their dog. That’s when the volunteers discovered the pup’s incredible story — he has been missing for almost fourteen years!
McKenzie found out that the pup’s name was Remington and that he was stolen from his owners fourteen years ago. When she told the owners that they have their dog, she can tell from their voices that they missed the pup so much and wanted him back.
Remi, who was then a ten-week-old puppy, was Aaron Webster’s birthday gift to his lovely wife. The couple fell head over heels with the pup, and they took him with them wherever they went.
Two months later, the couple visited Aaron’s mom’s home, and they put down Remi on the front porch. That’s when somebody took the pup without their knowledge.
Aaron and his wife searched for months and months and feared the worst when they could not find him. Remi was very tiny back then, and they thought that a hawk had gotten their dog.
The Websters drove four hours from Houston to Fort Worth just to reunite with their dog. It was a very special moment, and everyone was so emotional!
The shelter has been rescuing strays for quite some time now, but it’s not every day that a lost dog gets reunited with his family after fourteen years! Now that’s a story you can tell everyone.
Remi’s story is truly inspiring. If you want more information about Remi’s story, you can check out the video below.
