George and Irene are two homeless pit bulls that have lived in the streets of a California neighborhood for two years. Many of the residents were afraid of their bulky sizes and would throw stuff at them. One of the neighbors felt sorry for them and took them in.
For the next two months, the kind man took care of the dogs and kept them on his property. But it was becoming more difficult for him to provide them with everything that they needed. He promised that he would provide George and Irene a better life, but the circumstances in his life have changed.
Betrayal
The good neighbor had no choice but to call an animal rescue group to take the dogs and help them find good homes. It broke his heart to do this, but he had no other choice.
When the rescuers arrived, he introduced them to the dogs. Irene was very friendly and quickly greeted them. George was more reluctant. The man talked to the male pit bull, and he broke down when he explained that the rescuers would give them what he couldn’t. He said that he felt that he betrayed the trust that the dogs gave him.
The rescuers explained that he was doing the right thing, and they assured him that his kindness had extremely helped in saving their lives.
Bone cancer
The two dogs were brought to an animal hospital where they were given a comprehensive medical exam. Irene was found to be healthy, but George was diagnosed with bone cancer on one of his rear legs. He underwent surgery, and fortunately, it was successful.
After spending months rehabilitating, George was released and reunited with Irene. Both of them are now living in a foster home and are hoping that they would be adopted together. Their kind rescuer would be happy to know that the two dogs are doing very well.
