Martin Hall, Jr., the driver of a tow truck, had to stop his vehicle because a dog appeared to be waiting for people passing by. When this happened, Hall was driving along an unpaved road in one of the foothills of California in Mariposa County. He believed that the dog’s refusal to let him pass was because it wanted a treat. As a dog enthusiast, he tried to feed the dog his drink and sandwich, but the dog was uninterested in them.
Hall began recording the experience as he found it interesting. Finally, as Hall was about to give up trying to understand what the dog wanted, he noticed that the animal was on a collared leash, which he found odd given their remote location.
He soon discovered an abandoned flashlight on a nearby trail and that prompted him to conduct further investigation. Because of this, he hypothesized that the dog had gotten lost while he was on a walk, and that he was searching for his owner and hoping to see him soon.
When Hall was about to leave, he heard distant cries for help. As he pursued the source of the voice, the dog grew more vigilant and led him to an elderly man lying in the mud next to a dog named Chico, who was standing watch.
Apparently, the elderly man named Paul fractured his hip while walking his dogs at 5:00 a.m. after falling down a slope. Paul had been unable to move for seven hours and was praying for assistance to arrive quickly.
While Chico attended to him, his other dog calmly retraced their steps and waited in the middle of the road for someone who could assist their owner.
Paul was treated after Hall called an ambulance for him. The valiant animals have just saved their owner. What loyal dogs!
