Aria and Grace Keilbach are devoted and passionate animal rescuers. However, they have neither a large rescue organization nor a large number of volunteers to assist them. They would simply drive around Saipan with dog food in the back of their van and feed any stray dog they encountered.
Aria and Grace began rescuing canines after encountering a stray dog named Honey. When the two women discovered Honey, she was so emaciated that they could almost make out her bones through her skin. Honey was in a terrible state, and they soon discovered that she was nursing puppies.
Honey was so friendly that she approached the two women, requesting belly rubs and pets even though she was really hungry. Aria and Grace wanted to take Honey home with them, but when they realized that she was still feeding her puppies, they knew they had to leave her on the street so she could continue to care for her young. Therefore, the two women decided to return daily to feed Honey.
Honey was so confident in Aria and Grace that she began to introduce them to her pack. Eventually, the two rescuers began feeding the remaining strays and even began bringing some of the puppies home. Aria and Grace fostered the puppies and eventually found adoptive parents for them.
After Aria and Grace had rescued all of the puppies, they decided it was time to bring Honey home with them. They finally decided it was time after returning to the same location for six months to feed Honey and her pack.
Honey was so peaceful throughout the entire process of adjusting to her new home that she rapidly adapted to her new life as a house dog.
Few people understand how difficult it is to rescue stray dogs. Aria and Grace are aware of the difficulty of their work, yet they would not swap it for anything in the world. They are not affiliated with any huge animal rescue organization, but they do what they can to help stray dogs in Saipan.
