How difficult is life for shelter dogs? One may think they’re pretty fortunate as they get fed and have a shelter to sleep in. However, what most people fail to notice is how they don’t get much attention and freedom.
These dogs spend their time in shelters waiting for somebody to adopt them, some dogs even breathe their last in a shelter. That’s why when shelter dogs get adopted, they feel like they own the world. This is probably what Benny felt when he got adopted.
Benny was a shelter dog at Carson Animal Care Center located in Gardena, California. He stayed at the center and waited for so long to get adopted. The center is known to be a high-kill facility, they euthanize dogs who aren’t adopted sooner.
You can only imagine the fear the shelter dogs feel to see their friends being dragged away, only to be put to sleep. Every dog in that center hopes to be adopted to avoid an untimely demise.
Just as Benny was losing all his hope to be adopted, his new family came to save the day! His newly found family said they could see the confusion and skepticism written across his face. It seemed like he was scared but at the same time hopeful.
Deep down, even when Benny was scared and confused, his hope and positivity never waned. As soon as his family took him outside, his aura changed!
Benny realized that he wasn’t going to be harmed, he was saved! He no longer had to stay in fear and worry at the shelter, he was going to go home to his new place with his family. Once the shelter was out of Benny’s sight, he was already leaping for joy!
Seeing Benny’s sheer happiness was such an adorable experience for his new family. They could see his excitement as he smelled random things, barked, and jumped!
Without question, that moment was a core memory for both Benny and his owners. Even a worker at his former shelter was moved to see how happy one of their shelter dogs was to get adopted.
