Diesel is a pit bull mix that was reportedly stolen. According to her owner, a South Carolina resident named Tiffaney Capell, their pet was taken when he was out playing in their yard and they were not around. When they discovered that their pooch was gone, the family was heartbroken, especially Tiffaney’s daughter, Elise.
The mom and daughter duo relentlessly searched for their precious pet. They tirelessly printed flyers and gave them away. Tiffaney eventually started to lose hope, but her daughter never stopped praying that one day Diesel would come back.
Her prayers worked. Diesel did come home a year after.
Neglected dog
Diesel’s journey back home started when a neighbor couldn’t stand seeing how he was being treated.
After he was stolen, Diesel lived with a family that neglected him. He was living in terrible conditions, and it seemed that he would not be fed for days. He mostly stayed outside in the yard and was subjected to harsh weather conditions.
The neighbor reported this to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, and they sent someone to investigate. The officer in charge of the case determined that the dog should be taken away. Officers from Sumter Animal Control went to the house and took Diesel away.
After a month of staying in the shelter, Diesel was put up for adoption.
Observant lady
When they were preparing materials for the dog’s adoption, one volunteer said that the dog looked familiar to her. After much thought, she remembered the flyers that Tiffaney gave away several months ago. They compared the photos to the dog, and it seemed that they were the same.
So they got in touch with Tiffaney and ask her to come in to identify the rescued dog. They told her that they were not sure it was her dog so that she won’t get her hopes up.
But once the mother and daughter arrived at the shelter, the dog quickly recognized them and ran excitedly towards his owners. There was no doubt that this was Diesel. It was a very emotional reunion, and everyone had smiles on their faces.
