Charlie is an 11-year-old golden retriever that had his left eye removed due to severe glaucoma. He is owned by a North Carolina couple named Adam and Chelsea Stipe who were devastated when they realized that they had no other option. They feared that their fun-loving dog would be deeply affected mentally and emotionally.
A year after, his right eye suffered the same fate.
True enough, Charlie became uninterested in life. What was once a happy and easy-go-lucky pooch, became easily tired and reserved. He would just usually lie down, content the let the world pass by. The couple felt sad for their beloved pet and decided to do something to make him happy again.
Maverick
Adam and Chelsea had a lengthy discussion and came up with the idea of getting him a friend. A new pup may infuse some excitement in Charlie’s life and coax him out of his slump. They started looking for a pup and they found Maverick.
Initially, the two dogs didn’t get along well. The pup wanted to play all the time but the senior dog preferred to be alone. But slowly, maverick started to rub off on Charlie. It helped that the four-month-old pup was very willing to help him out with everything.
Eventually, the two became inseparable. Charlie relied on Maverick for pretty much everything that they did. this included activities such as walking, playing, eating, and even when sleeping.
According to Chelsea, she and her husband are delighted to see Charlie around Maverick. He has become a small pup again whenever they play. And it seemed that Maverick has easily picked up the older dog’s needs.
There would be times when their toys would get away from Charlie. The energetic puppy would then get the toy and drop it in front of the senior dog.
Their harmonic relationship has been so sweet that Chelsea decided to share it on Instagram. And in the first few days, they have already amassed more than 50,000 followers.
