We are really all aware of how important our vision is. We see everything through our eyes.
Now imagine losing your ability to see. Indeed, life would be considerably more difficult.
Tao, an 11-year-old Golden retriever, is aware of how difficult it is to lose one’s eyesight. He was not always blind and he used to have a beautiful life. But since reaching his senior years, he has been blinded because of glaucoma.
According to Melanie, Tao’s mother, everything happened so quickly. He was playing and doing well until he abruptly shook his head as if wiping away some agony. A few hours later, on the same day, he was proclaimed blind and lost vision in one eye.
After losing one eye, his mother immediately prepared him for a life without eyesight. She exerted so much effort to teach him how to avoid getting hurt while moving around. After a few weeks, his second eye had to be removed.
The veterinarian proposed euthanizing Tao due to his condition, but Melanie rejected the suggestion. Tao is a beloved member of the family. Only his eyes will be lost, but Tao’s soul, which is filled with love and joy, will remain the same. And that is surely the only thing that matters.
Tao moved on and learned to live a new life despite the sad turn of circumstances. His owner does not wish for him to face the new challenges alone. Therefore, they decided to give Tao a new pair of eyes in the form of a seeing-eye dog named Oko.
Since Oko joined the family, he has been of great assistance to Tao. He is always by his side and goes with him everywhere. When needed, he even takes Tao’s leash and leads the way.
Tao was made happier by his kind younger brother. He felt more secure with Oko around. Eventually, the two began to frolic through the fields and take naps together.
Tao is fortunate to have Oko as his companion. On the other hand, Oko is taught daily how to be an excellent guide dog.
